The top bar is now a wonderful cosy red colour and we’ve added some pews to make it even lovelier.
The Lion Cub, a horse box transformed into an outside bar, is finished and is a mini-me of the pub! Look out for it on events days on the green.
Refurbishments have finished now at our sister pub - The George Inn - a couple of villages away in Shalford. This means another village gets it's pub back. Check out their Essex Huffers and have a game of pool whilst you chat with the owner Paul Pilgrim and his staff and the ever-so friendly locals.
We are open and serving food all day, everyday and there is no need to book, just rock up for a crackin’ good time.
We specialise in homemade, delicious Italian style pizzas, and the meat toppings have been lovingly and slowly smoked by Paul And are truly delicious.
Just love the atmosphere, mostly great music, friendly quirky bar staff and just like a proper pub used to be and still seems to work as a great pub now
A real old country pub with good atmosphere and the smoked meats on the menu are a delicious change.
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Paul for reopening The George Inn, Shalford. We wish him every success.
And of course, we love our amazing Landlady Jacqui. To the Manor Born as they say. (You can’t miss her, She has a purple quiff).

Jacqui is very keen for women to feel comfortable using pubs like blokes do, to wander in alone, sit at the bar, and striking up a conversation. To this end, she will be at the bar on Thursday evenings to welcome all gals who might otherwise be a bit nervous of walking in alone.
The Cult of Ffynche have been entertaining us in the garden with their wonderful sounds so watch social media for upcoming events. And of course they play in the pub every Wednesday.
A jam session from 9pm on Sunday’s too!
